TO ALL SINGERS, LYRICISTS WITHOUT A BAND!!!!

THE FUTURE OF MUSIC – FROM ALL COUNTRIES

I have been writing here before about my digital music. Simply, when I started this I wanted to make my own songs! :-) Are you in? I did not felt myself comfortable just singing others music, karaoke and so on. I am also a lyricist,  Soo….
———————————————————————————————————————————

Are you without a band but a singer? Do you have tips for making music? Are you sitting there in your living room with your computer and just join online karaoke sites? Do you have knowledge in any music Software? Feel free to contact me and join the group WeGoDigital!

Also wanted to share some valuable links to those of us making our music digitally. (below) You can put time and effort in making music both in real but also digtally. You have a thought about a song, you miss the text but have created the music piece. You have the lyrics but no music or you are a singer without any of these. Then find collaboration with other musicians, preferably digitally making musicians.

This is a chance for the people who does not yet have a band, a thing taking time to set up. If you can make notes, if you have an “ear” for the sound and some knowledge in making the notes then you are in a good position. More practice gives you more knowledge, the more you make the more you learn and after a while you can slow down your tempo and concentrate on the quality….hence from the beginning and certainly on the net,  you mostly see and produce demos. Should you be offered a contract you probably have to re-record this pieces in a studio anyway.

Finally, see all music pieces on the net as demos. I am listening to a lot of bands, professional bands,  but sometimes I hear a very bad recording while listening on the net, also you can be offered just a 20 sec sample in many places. Also some of my own early creations sounds less good in quality.

Of course, they often do not put full quality songs on the net because of the piracy risk. Many are recording in 96kpbs, while 128kbps use to be the minimum and 192kbps should be. To sell your recording yourself (not via any company) you should record in 224kbps. That´s my experience, otherwise people do not want to buy it.

So, come on all digital music makers! Do not just sit there. You have a lot to give, at least something.

Feel free to contact me with any questions. And of course, feel free to visit my site http://sivanto.se, or Myspace site (join the group) and listen through my demos on my site.

I sing rock, easy listening, ballads, funk and some country and actually I have been awarded three times since 2006. Therefore I want to share this idea.

Review – Rules around Songs & Music

Introduction

There are a lot of rules around songs and song production. How will we keep the copyright owners protected in the future? How will Internet and all this mess with how to protect mp3 music affect the recording industry and artists? Some companies are working hard to reach a reasonable protection, which at the same time does not destroy the possibilities to play it on every platform and Ipods. I guess most of the music fans around the globe have not missed the many complaints ex. Itunes have got because of that their protected music can not be played on every Ipod.

Big battles

This music format mp3, which easily can be copied, has caused a big battle in many ways. The industry want to find another format which is easier to manage and during this waiting, development and investigations everywhere, the artists are affected. Some are speculating about that 90% of all circulating mp3:s would be used without the copyright owners permission. If that would be true it would be terrible, and ahead a possible threat for the mp3 to be used at all.

The first thing affecting and actually frightening me when reading about those things is “what can I do to protect myself and my own website?” I can really feel this ticking bomb of suspense inside when linking to other sites where I know they are hosting mp3:s, even though I am checking them out very careful before. So, shortly I really feel uncomfortable with mp3 due to all these indistinctive rules but simultaneously I love the format.

Other formats?

So, how is this competition in how to produce another format going?
Surprise, surprise, two new hearts have been created and are named 1DVD-A and SACD which is two high resolution formats demanding multi-format players. How will this work online? How can we afford it?

Of course this is good for the record companies as they now can resell what they have in their catalogs but the main question is if the customers will buy this? After the easy Mp3 revolution where every single soul with a little knowledge within music producing on their computers have been able to create their own files, I think the Mp3 will remain. I believe in that it will force the industry either accepting it than excluding and that way find protect able ways out of this music piracy world. Then we all, including the artists will sleep on cotton.

Review – NumberOneMusic

NumberOneMusic was one of the first places on the net I registered with. I signed up for a 1 month subscription ($9.98) after realising that I could not benefit from the mailinglist manager after 30 days. This subscription type is one of the options you have when signing up for a full membership. You can also pay twice a year, and per year. As a free member you can reach 1000 subscribers during 30 days while reaching 10.000 with “full” membership and finally 20.000 subscribers with Golden full membership.

So, what do you get for your membership then?

As a full subscriber (like me) you can upload 10 songs, choose category, send newsletters, choose different pictures and change color and song category style on your page. It is possible to vote and subscribe to your mailing list directly from your sub page and finally also to put your merchandise there with picture links.

You can order stats for each week into your private mailbox where you see how many votes your songs have got. Its possible to see how your results are changing, number of voters and results compared with the previous weeks.

Reviews
This opportunity is only for Golden Full Members which I personally think would benefit even full members.

You can review others even as a full member and that way get awards as a featured artist and benefit from banner ads. NumberOneMusic is very strict with pointing out to be constructive as a reviewer as they have a review-rating system where their E-team are checking how much effort you put into your reviews. Also, the artist have the opportunity to make their own opinions heard about the review.

Promotion
If you want to promote yourself even more than just subscribe to the above service you can buy ad spots where space is purchased one week at a time with 10 spots available. The ads are placed on the top or in the footer of the page.

Price: $50 / week

A little more expensive is the Central banner, which appears on the homepage top or footer.

Price: $70-75 / week

Layout
The site is easy navigated and with a very nice layout. When you are coming to the start page you see the different logins for artists and for music subscribers to the left, ads and news to the right. Featured artists, promotions and top 10 of the week below this ones. It´s possible to search for artists by name, location, member and genre already at the start page. That is a big plus.

My overall rating
4/5
